Changes in pigment will affect most of us at some point, it can arise from sun damage, trauma to the skin, melasma or even loss of pigment.
Hyperpigmentation has been shown to be far more ageing than lines and wrinkles and traditionally has been difficult to treat, especially for darker skin tones.
What Causes Pigmentation?
Sun Damage
This is caused by overstimulation of melanocytes which create patches of darker skin and become more pronounced as we age. It is common to get this type of pigmentation following over exposure to the sun or tanning beds.
Age Spots
Often found on the hands and face in older patients, these spots vary in size, they are harmless but unsightly and very ageing.
Trauma
Scars can often heal with hyperpigmentation, this is more common in people with darker complexions (olive skin and below). The scarring can be post-surgical, accidental or most commonly from bites, stings and scratches.
Hormones
Melasma is often associated with hormonal changes in the skin, this can be from taking the contraceptive pill or can show up during pregnancy – often referred to as a ‘pregnancy mask’.

& up to date treatments
IPL and CO2 Laser
Laser treatments have revolutionized the field of pigmentation correction. They target melanin in the affected areas, breaking it down without damaging the surrounding skin. Different types of lasers, such as IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) or fractional CO2 Lasers, can be used depending on the severity of the pigmentation. These treatments tend to be most suited to lighter skin tones
Cyspera Melanin Inhibitor

Skin Peels (TCA/Lactic)
Skin peels are a great way to lift pigmentation whilst improving the texture of the skin.
Chemical peels involve applying a solution to the skin, which exfoliates the top layer, revealing fresh, healthier skin underneath. Peels containing alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs) or beta hydroxy acids (BHAs) are particularly effective in treating pigmentation issues.
A custom peel will be chosen for you depending on your skin type, level of pigmentation and downtime (the higher the % of peel, the more downtime to expect). This is a good choice for those looking for an overall improvement to the skin. Read More
Retinols and Vitamin C
Retinoids: Retinoids, such as retinol and tretinoin, are derived from vitamin A and are effective in treating pigmentation issues. They promote cell turnover, exfoliate the skin, and improve overall skin texture. Regular use of retinoids can fade pigmentation and stimulate collagen production.
Vitamin C Serums: Vitamin C is known for its antioxidant properties and its ability to inhibit melanin production. Applying a high-quality vitamin C serum can help reduce pigmentation, brighten the skin, and protect it from further damage caused by free radicals.

Mesotherapy
Mesotherapy is an extremely effective treatment for both the face and body. A tiny needle is used to inject a custom, potent blend of vitamins, minerals and pharmaceuticals into the layer of the skin responsible for regenerating – the extracellular matrix.
Mesotherapy combinations will leave the skin tighter, brighter, hydrated and rejuvenated. If you prefer a needle free experience, we can also deliver these serums using Plasma Shower technology. Read More

Does it hurt ?
It is completely normal to feel anxious about the procedures. We use a range of topical anaesthetics to ensure that you are as relaxed as possible during the treatment and that any discomfort is kept to an absolute minimum. Most clients describe the sensation as ‘tingling vibrations’ rather than pain and many fall asleep during the procedure.
